Project Summary: I need a an essay. Please fallow the rules: (1) A strong introduction to your chosen topic. You do not need a thesis statement yet. We will work on your introduction during class on October 4. The introduction should have contain a concrete example that demonstrates why your topic is important to think about in 2016, even though the authors in our textbook may have written about it a long time ago (or, in the case of Barak Obama, during a presidency that is about go through a changing of the guard). To receive an A, you will need a clearly written introduction with a compelling example and good diction (word choice). During class on October 4 you looked at a number of images related to the proposed topics for your essay. I encourge you to use one of these images -- or one you find on your own -- at the head of your essay. Your introduction can then be a description of the image, as it relates to your topic (or a hypothetical story about the image, in which you describe what is going on in the image in a story form, with setting and characters facing a situation). Essay Topics with related course reading, listed by author. Choose one: 1. Tyranny (Madison) 2. Separation of Church and State (Madison) 3. Racial tension (Obama) 4. The power of forgiveness (Tutu) 5. The dignity or nobleness of serving in the military (Aquinas). (2) A summary of two possible sources for your essay. You will find these sources during our online class on October 11. Each summary need only bea paragraph long, but a good-sized paragraph of about 100 words. Include the full bibliographic information at the top of each summary using MLA.
