Project Summary: WK4 DISC RSCH Theoretical and Conceptual Frameworks Review the readings for this week as well as the media segment on theory. Consider the distinctions between a theoretical framework and a conceptual framework in qualitative research. Analyze the article provided in the Resources or one selected by your instructor. Is the author using a theoretical or conceptual framework for the study? How do you know? Why was that framework the most appropriate? How does it relate to the selected approach? With these thoughts in mind: PROVIDE 2- to 3-paragraph analysis of the framework in the article and how you know which one is being used. Then, discuss the appropriateness of the framework for the study. When appropriate, be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the reading(s) and/or video program(s) and use APA format. Course Text: Qualitative Inquiry and Research Design: Choosing Among Five Approaches Chapter 2, "Philosophical, Assumptions, and Interpretive Frameworks" In this chapter, Creswell discusses the philosophical, paradigmatic, and interpretive frameworks that serve as a contextual backdrop for qualitative research studies. These frameworks can be applied to each of the five approaches that you studied in Week 3. Course Text: Qualitative Research and Evaluation Methods in Chapter 3, "Variety in Qualitative Inquiry: Theoretical Orientations" Ethnography (pp. 81-84) Phenomenology (pp. 104-107) Narratology or Narrative Analysis (pp. 115118) Grounded Theory (pp. 124-129) In this chapter, Patton presents an in-depth description of some of the major theoretical orientations embraced by qualitative researchers. Course Text from RSCH 8100: Research Design: Qualitative, Quantitative, and Mixed Methods Approaches In Chapter 3, "The Use of Theory," review Qualitative Theory Use (pp. 61-66) Course Text from RSCH 8100: Reynolds, R. D. (2010). A primer in theory construction (Laureate Education, Inc., custom ed.). Boston: Pearson Education.
