2 papers about film comedy
1. interview assignment
Please select three people (one of which should be of an older generation; another of a younger or peer generation) to question about their comedy experiences and memories; in a sense, this is another perspective on the nature of the (film) comedy. A few framing suggestions below, but otherwise, I'll leave it to you to construct the flow of the interview.
Ask them about their comedic roots, what they feel influenced or impacted their sense of humor, and what they define comedy as.
Ask them to list several film/media comedies/personas/events that are significant to them.
Ask them to comtemplate the role of comedy - it's use, if you will, in society (and if older, how it may have changed over the years), and its significance in society/culture - and what, in their opinion, the future of comedy holds.
Also, please give brief information on the age, background of the individuals you survey.
2. Film response
For each film screened, include a short response, putting it within the perspective of the screenings we've experienced in class, as well as within some of the comedic theories explored; also, briefly annotate, for your own selections, your interest or rationale for selection.
film one: Land Without Bread (1932, Luis Bunuel, Spain, 28m) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v92BhA23FyQ)
film two: Il Sorpasso (1960, Dino Rossi, Italy, 105m)
