Re-write/ make it better this essay attached. I will paste the comments that my teacher wrote for this rough draft, so that you can use it when writing the final essay. Also please make sure the essay includes evidence from the speech (https://youtu.be/IlzpTBQjO98) and not empty analysis without evidence. The readers needs to understand what this essay is about without having to actually hear the speech. Prompt: In “How to Talk Like a Politician” the essay discusses the way politicians speak. It describes a way to look at political language and by extension, politicians through the lens of rhetorical analysis. Write an essay (4-6pgs, MLA) in which you analyze a political speech (NOT BY TRUMP) of the last 4 years and discuss how the politician uses language to convey meaning, or obfuscate it.

COMMENT 1: Introduce HTTLAP before you cite them. The reader needs to know who they are and why they are important. Use Hilary's comments and relate them back to HTTLAP. There are also places where you can question whether she is going beyond their framework. You do this indirectly. Also, Is this an essay about Trump or an essay about Clinton's speech, it sways a little towards the end. COMMENT 2: The conclusions and statements she talks about are kind of confusing and hard to follow. The claims seem to be with evidence but are more just thrown into a sentence and not followed by clear evidence, just her saying that she can verify it. Prompt: Using How to Talk Like a Politician as a model for your analysis first examine how this person is using language and then discuss how this use of language could suggest to whom the individual is trying to appeal―Are they attempting to win support for an agenda? Are they celebrating their efforts or accomplishments? Are they signaling a call to action, if so, what is it? Are they attacking an opponent? Why does word choice matter, and is there a motive behind it? Does the speaker use any facts to discuss a position, if so, check those facts? Does the speaker offer positions on subjects without factual basis, if so, what are the facts they are leaving out? You do not have to use the 5 facets of political speak used by Mark & McCutcheon, you may choose to develop your own or interpret theirs into different language.
