Guidance for Quality Summary of Psychological Journal Article Experiment Research Reports
1. The only reference for the article includes author, publication year, article title, journal name, volume number, page numbers, and doi or URL (if required), written in APA style. Place this at the top of your document. No other references are needed.
Place an appropriate APA formatted (author’s or authors’ last name(s) and the date of publication) in-text citation at the end of each of items 2 through 10 below, e.g. (Nowell, 2010).
Because each of your summaries is only about 1 of your chosen psychological-research-study journal articles, the in-text citation for that article is exactly the same for each of items 2 through 10 below.
2. Thesis statement(s) for research article summary explains the purpose of the research experiment.
3. The major variables (independent, dependent, extraneous, confounding) in the research experiment are explained.
4. The research questions/hypotheses tested in the study are explained.
5. A brief summary of research summarized in the Introduction section of the article is stated.
6. The participants in the research are described.
7. The study’s procedure and the materials used to measure the variables (i.e., assessments) are described.
8. An explanation of how the results relate to the research questions/hypotheses is stated.
9. The study author’s/authors' conclusions regarding the findings of the research are stated.
10. The author’s/authors' statements about limitations, reliability, generalizability of the study are described.
Do not include a title page, an abstract, or a reference page for this assignment.
As is true for all assignments in this course, this assignment is graded for quality of "information research (SMEs)--when this is required", quality of thinking, and quality of writing, as described in various parts of our course syllabus.
