Instruction
1. Consider humanity as the ultimate predator. Many, if not most of us, particularly in the United States, are quite comfortable with the harvesting of organisms like tuna, deer, ducks, or rabbits. Other countries and cultures; however, value species for food that rarely, if ever, find their way to the North American dinner plate. What are your thoughts on the harvesting of organisms such as whales, dolphins, seals, etc.? Is hunting the only major issue that might threaten the existence of these organisms? Should we limit ourselves to eating only certain organisms? Why, or why not? Feel free to do some independent research.
2. Give three seafood items that appear in each category in the Seafood Watch guide. What are the differences in how the items are classified? Why might the same type of fish fall into different categories?
Choose the guide for your state or use the national guide: https://www.seafoodwatch.org/seafood-recommendations/consumer-guides Your response should be at least 75 words in length.
3.The textbook explains that some arguments can contain fallacies, meaning that the reasons or evidence to support the position may not be correct. Share some examples that you have observed when someone in the political arena, or from your personal experience, offered an argument that contained a fallacy. Explain the fallacy. Remember, the purpose of this discussion is not to argue about the actual controversy but to discuss fallacies. With the highly charged political climate of today, this discussion board will be watched closely to ensure that communications are collegial and polite. If you would like to post an opposing view, do so, but do not fall victim yourself of the fallacy of ad hominem attacks
