The article discusses 11 therapeutic factors (Yalom, 2005) that often present in groups. Select 2 from the article and discuss why you feel they are of special importance to domestic violence/intimate partner violence groups.
Discuss two ways that the guidance group leadership approach is different from the counseling group leadership approach. Which do you believe is more beneficial to group members? Why?
As a group leader, how might you handle the "storming and norming" phases of a domestic violence group? Why?

Consider these questions as you read:
Before reading Chapter 4: What are some strengths and limitations of your personal guiding theory (explored in the individual theories course) and how might it influence the direction of a group?
Chapter 5: Consider some of your own experiences in a group and the use of the word "we" when a task was completed. Did you believe that you were represented in a group decision? If so, how? If not, where do you believe communication broke down?
Chapter 6: How do you feel about the use of confrontation and feedback? What are your thoughts on the role of humor in group work?
