Things to think about as you read:
How does this writer make the reader feel sorry for Tom Ripley?
How does the use of letter writing move the story?
Is Tom Ripley a victim?
What are the differences between the novel and the movie? How do they affect the author’s intent? Why doe the movie production need some of the changes? What scene is added (characters) in the movie that doesn’t appear in the novel?
The reader knows from the beginning that Tom Ripley is not going to die, this is a 5-part series. Yet the suspense is there, and we feel that he is going to be cornered many times in the novel. How does the author achieve this?
