Part 1:Module 1: Discussion 2 - Questions for Module 1 Discussion BoardThe first chapter of your textbook provides a foundational examination of collaboration and explores its place in contemporary schools. To deepen your understanding and to examine this information in a new perspective, the following discussion questions are provided. Instructions: Provide a written response to each of the discussion questions listed below: 1.In a paragraph, describe collaborative school consultation as it reflects your thinking at this early point in the course. Base your response on the text, class discussions, and your experiences and interactions with other educators and students. 2. Do you think that collaborative consultation in schools today improves student achievement? Fully describe why you chose your answer, and provide support for your position.
Part 2:Module 1: Assignment 1 - Personal Identity Project To be a good collaborative teacher, you must have a good understanding of who you, yourself, are so you can better interact with others. This assignment will provide you with the opportunity to reflect on your own cultural identity, including experiences, values, beliefs, history (e.g., educational, social, political, power), attitudes, etc. You will examine the many micro-and macro-cultures of which you are a part and the benefits/penalties these bring to you as a collaborative/consultative educator. *You must respond to to classmate post Instructions: You will take two different types of on-line assessments: All in One Personality Test (available at http://similarminds.com (Links to an external site.)) Project Implicit’s Hidden Bias Tests (available at http://www.tolerance.org/Hidden-bias (Links to an external site.)). In this assessment, you will be asked to select various Implicit Association Tests (IATs). Select the Disability IAT and the Race IAT to complete along with one additional IAT of your choice. Here are the steps to access and complete these assessments: Once you have access the web page for the Hidden Bias Tests, read through the information; near the top of the window, click on the blue button (Check Yourself for Hidden Bias) to enter the tests. The next page will have different options for use in taking the assessments. Select the second option on the left side of the screen to enter as a guest. The next screen has text for you to read; once you have, click on the link near the bottom saying “I wish to Proceed.” The following screen will list the IATs you can choose to take. The two required IATs are “Disability IAT” and “Race”IAT." You are then to select any other IAT of your choice to take in addition. Begin an IAT by clicking on the link and following directions on the screen. At its completion, print your results and select the option to continue with another IAT. As you complete each assessment, print out the results you obtain; you will include these in the final submission. Once you have completed the on-line assessments, write a reflection paper about what you discovered going through this introspection. Include the following: Explain the results of each of the assessments. Explain whether or not you agree with the results, providing a rationale for your beliefs. Did you learn anything about yourself as a result of any of the assessments? If so, what? How do you think your cultural identity, your beliefs, etc. may impact on your role as a collaborative consultant in education? Why? Do you think your cultural identity may lead to possible challenges when dealing with others in this role? If so, expand on this area. Is there anything you would like to change or improve about your cultural perspective? If so, what and why? If not, please explain your position. Submission Instructions: At the end of the reflection, include the printouts of all assessments taken. The paper should be free of all spelling and grammatical errors, use APA formatting (6th ed.), and be approximately two pages in length not counting the cover and references pages.
