This current event will focus on Juvenile Homicide, School/Mass Shootings, or Serial Killers. For this assignment, choose one case that has occurred within the previous three (3) years. This case may either be local or national, though a national case of interest will likely yield more material to work with. Once you have chosen your case, you then will find four (4) different stories from reputable news sources (a list has been provided in Blackboard; when in doubt, please feel free to check with me if the source you have found is considered credible). Students then will review the coverage and answer the following questions:

Instruction
All case studies should begin with a brief overview of the basics of the case (the who, what, when, where, why, and how) in the first paragraph. The majority of the essay, however, should focus on answering the questions above. The broader goal of this assignment is to critically assess the information that is made available to to majority of society about these events that is largely accepted as fact rather than questioned about its validity. Such should be the focus of the students' analyses of their cases. Current event analyses should be 3-4 pages in length, double-spaced, using 12-point Times New Roman font. You also should include a separate references page (not included in the 3-4 page requirement) that lists the news stories used in your analysis (with proper citations in APA format).
