Article Response Assignments
The purpose of this assignment is for the student to critically assess and engage with the core ideas presented in the articles in Images of Society (the textbook used in tutorial) and other online articles. The article response assignment will involve students briefly summarizing their assigned article, answering an assigned question, discussing the benefits and limitations of the author’s viewpoint, and discussing relevant sociological theories. The assigned questions for each chapter will be posted on Owl.
You’ll have one response each semester, for a total of two responses by the end of the course. Each response is worth 10% of your mark and full marks depend on the depth and critical analysis of your response, not just simply the fact that you have handed it in. They are to be approximately 1000 words in length.
The article responses will be due at the beginning of your tutorial. They must also be uploaded to turnitin.com BEFORE tutorial. The late penalty is 5% a day, so please ensure that you hand it in on time. To upload to turnitin, submit your paper to Owl under the Assignments section. Owl then automatically submits to turnitin.
Sign‐up sheets will be circulated after the second week of class
