Instruction
Pick any Female Individual of historical significance in North America. (You can decide who you want to write it on, you can pick the individual). there is two parts to this assignment, open is 6 page essay and the other one is 1-2page script with relations to the woman you are writing about. The script is a dialogue script that relates to the woman you are talking about, it could be an interview or a story Instructions are written below, if you have any questions, feel free to ask me, please only do the assignment if you can understand the instructions and complete it by tomorrow. a) Write a 1-2 page script for a Women’s History Heritage minute on a subject of your choosing (please keep to the timeframe of our course (First Contact to Second Wave Feminism & the Civil Rights Movement) and to a subject of Canadian or American women’s history). Your script should include both dialogue among your historical actors and a narrator's voice-over for its introduction and conclusion, as well as descriptions of the visual images you would use including sets, locals, and even people. Feel free to include pictures, drawings, music, or a video as attachments (though this is NOT a requirement of the assignment. b) Then write a 6 page essay elaborating on the larger history of your moment. Remember this is an analytical argumentative essay — you need a thesis, arguments, a counter-argument (if relevant) and a conclusion. Your conclusion should tackle the questions above, as well as detail why you feel this moment is significant to our larger understanding of women’s history. It should also include a section highlighting the limitations of a “minute” by examining the broader context of the historical moment you have chosen to recreate. What story or whose voice is missing from your moment? What had to be glossed over? c) You analysis should include at least 3 primary sources, and 3 secondary sources (try to include one book as well as articles. You may use readings in your course list if applicable). I recommend using Google Scholar through the Library website for secondary sources. Remember Wikipedia is NOT an academic source! Feel free to use more sources, especially primary, which is a key criterion for an “A” paper. For inspiration you may wish to consult the “Histor!ca” website to view examples of moments from Canadian History. If you feel that it is beyond your principles to write an Heritage Moment, I will permit Anti-Heritage moments as well. Be professional and treat your subjects with respect and sensitivity.
