Instruction
1. Page Requirements - Two to Five Pages (Not including references)
2. Reference at least three outside sources (Wikipedia does not count)
3. Follow APA guidelines for references: In the text, use (Author, year) and if you are directly quoting something make sure you put quotes around the sentence. For example - "Mr. Brown is a brilliant instructor" (Brown, 2020). If it is not a direct quote, and you are paraphrasing or using the reference to help support your argument, do not use quotation marks. For example - The KU Sport Management program is one of the top in the nation (Brown, 2020).
4. Use regular 1 inch margins, size 12 Times New Roman Font. Do not try to "trick" me with margins, spacing, or text size. I used all the tricks in my undergraduate degree and will spot them easily in your work.
5. Do not plagiarize or use work you did in another class (that is also plagiarism). KU subscribes to a system called SafeAssign that will flag work that is not your own and that will have academic misconduct consequences (see the syllabus).
6. MUST BE SUBMITTED AS A MICROSOFT WORD FILE
7. Due by 11:59 p.m. on April 12th.
Prompt: You have just been hired as the Director of Marketing for University of Nebraska-Omaha Athletics. The school President and Athletics Director are concerned that students have stopped coming to the men's and women's basketball games even though students enter free by showing their ID card and can sit at midcourt. Your assignment the first week on the job is to design a promotion for a season opening doubleheader on November 15th (men's game at 5:30 followed by the women at 8:00) against your rival South Dakota State. They have given you a one-time budget for this project of $1,000. For this report, (1) use outside sources to detail the issues with student attendance happening at universities across the country, (2) develop a list of reasons, including competing entertainment options, for why students may not be attending games, (3) research creative and interesting promotions that have been in college basketball in the last couple years, and (4) finally, design a theme night or promotion that will attract students to the game. Creativity and uniqueness will be considered heavily when evaluating the success of this report. For example, a simple pizza giveaway is not acceptable.
