This week you read CHPT 1, 2, and 4 which contained an introduction to the history, interventions, theories, and cultural considerations in career development. For this week's discussion forum, reflect on the readings, lecture/presentation, and your life experience to respond to the following: 1. Describe the need for counselors to be culturally competent. 2. Identify ways in which culture may impact career development and how counseling professionals may advocate for clients in this important domain. 3. Analyze and describe the current evolving focus on multiple life roles and any potential impact on career development. Provide examples of multiple life roles relevant to your career development. Initial or Main Post: You are required to make an initial original post and at least three original peer response posts. Make sure your initial post thoroughly addresses all parts of the discussion prompt(s). Include citations and references in APA format. Utilize your text, course resources, and other scholarly literature to support your posts. Peer Responses: Respond to your peers by providing additional examples on how culture or life roles may impact career development for specific clients. You may wish to include a discussion of how life roles or trends in the workplace have impacted your career development. Additionally, respond with one way your colleague might advocate for culturally diverse clients. To earn maximum points, postings should be evenly distributed throughout the discussion period reflecting participation from start to finish. Respond to at least 3 classmates on 3 separate days with substantive responses and support these responses with references. You may respond to a colleague prior to your initial post deadline. All postings should be appropriate, using proper language, cordiality, grammar, and punctuation. All citations and references must be in APA style.
