Instruction
Instructions:
1. Read and study the meaning of all pertinent passages listed below. Use free online
resources, like “No Fear Shakespeare”, to help you understand the meaning of each
pertinent passage.
2. Write a passage analysis for one of the five given pertinent passages (select only one to
analyze and write about). Be sure to identify at the top of your analysis, which passage
you select to analyze. In this analysis, you will identify and explain the following: The
overall meaning of the passage (put the overall meaning of the passage into your own
words), conflicts, themes, as well as literary devices and their significance. Be sure to
list who speaks in the passage, who is spoken to (I have provided speaker & spoken to
information below alongside each passage), the setting, and add more detail to the
context that I already provide for each passage (context = events that lead up to this
point in the passage). Use your own words for this analysis, since “Turn It In” will scan
it for originality.
3. Connect this passage that you select from the five passages below to one, or more, of
the themes listed in our lessons on themes that are posted in the “Classwork” section of
our Google Classroom. Please note that I have posted the themes on Kingship, Divine
Right of Kings & Natural Order today (April 15, 2020) in the “Classwork” section of our
Google Classroom. I will post more themes later in the week, so please check our Google
Classroom regularly.
4. Identify conflicts and conflict types, if present, within the passage you select from the
list below. Read lesson on conflicts posted in the “Classwork” section of our Google
Classroom to help you with identifying conflict types.
5. Identify literary devices within your selected passage and explain their significance.
Please revisit the lesson on “Literary Devices” that I posted in the “Classwork” section of
our Google Classroom on Monday, April 6, 2020.
6. Be sure to adhere to simple present tense when analyzing this analysis and utilize
proper paragraph conventions. Please revisit my grammar lesson that I posted in the
“Classwork” section of our Google Classroom on Monday, April 6, 2020.
7. Come up with a creative title for your passage analysis that embodies at least two
literary devices (original constructs) and ensure that they correspond with the content
of your analysis.
