Introduction
This assignment is all about listening – something we rarely do effectively.
The Assignment
How do we really listen? Or perhaps the question should be, do we just hear and not listen? Conscious listening is necessary to achieve improved relationships not only at work, but also at home.
Discuss the many ways in which you listen, at home/at work. Then elaborate on what you learned about conscious listening. In what ways is this different from the way you listen now? Say how following Julian Treasure's recommendations could change your understand of people, of situations at work and in your personal life.
Grading Criteria
For all responses now, you are required to turn in a paper in APA format with examples to support your points. This paper should include a reference page with a minimum of 2 academic sources. These sources should also be used in your response as in-text citations as further support for the points you are making. You need to save the paper as a document in .rtf .pdf .doc or .docx format and attach it. Check for spelling and grammar before submitting. Consult the following links for the basics on the reference page and in-text citations.
There is a grading rubric. You can view it before you submit your paper to make sure you are covering all the bases.

Emotional Intelligence, something we don’t talk about enough, and what is often not practiced. A necessary skill for survival in relationships of all kinds.
The Assignment
After viewing the videos on Emotional Intelligence, and taking notes, consider the following questions and then write your response.
How does the absence or presence of emotional of intelligence affect interpersonal communication?
Do you think having emotional intelligence is very important, and does your answer line up with the concepts in the module?
Can and should emotional intelligence be taught and by whom?
Are IQ and EQ mutually exclusive? Give examples and support your points.
