summary brief and clear. thank you
Paragraph1 Other consequences of global warming may include the introduction and prolifera- tion of new infectious diseases, loss of arable land (referred to as "desertification"), destructive changes to existing ecosystems, loss of biodiversity and the isolation of species, and concomitant adverse changes in the quality of human life. Desertification is a problem of sustainable development. It is directly connected to human challenges such as poverty, social and economic well-being and environmental protection as well. Broader environmental issues, such as climate change, biological diversity, and freshwater supplies, are indirectly related, so any effort to resolve this environmental challenge must entail coordinated research efforts and joint action.
Paragraph2: A main approach to forest conservation in developed countries is to place legal restrictions on forest clearing and then fine or otherwise punish violators. This approach is less effective in developing countries for two reasons. First, due to weak governance, regulations may be poorly enforced. Second, because people are very poor, it may not be possible (or desirable) to impose financial penalties on violators. Hence, using carrots rather than sticks has gained popularity in poor countries: forest owners are offered financial rewards for forest-preserving behaviors
Paragraph3: Forest cover is one of our surest defenses against further global warming, and one of the simplest ones to deploy. There is no technological innovating required to plant an acre of trees. The means have been with us for millennia, and the costs and risks are immensely less than constructing new arrays of solar panels or wind turbines or pursuing geoengineering schemes
