The magazine’s editors have asked several professionals in the field at various stages of their careers to contribute articles voicing their perspectives on this issue. But they’re missing one important perspective: that of an emerging expert, or student, in the field. That’s where you come in. Your advisor has recommended you to the magazine’s editorial board, and the editors have asked you to contribute a 1,250–1,500-word article in which you articulate your own position on the issue and support it with both your experience and your in-depth research. The editors want you to make clear where you stand on the issue, but also to provide the necessary context or background, some indication of its importance for your field.
