My research project focuses on the struggle on how globalization impacted Jamaica’s agriculture where I decided to write a 10 page paper. I have many friends who’s from Jamaica and the only popular issue in which I hear many speak upon is poverty rate. When we think about the Caribbean, we automatically think about the poverty rate when there’s many other aspects to look upon as to why I’m interested into this topic. I normally focus on my own heritage and background which is Haiti, however this time around, I’ve decided to expand my knowledge on the other Caribbean cultures. When I submitted my research proposal, Professor Kilkenny gave me feedback to focus on a specific question on society or economy. I then thought to myself, to make the topic less broad, I should focus on a culture, which is the Jamaican culture. It is very important to understand the aspects of the international borders especially because globalization is the spread of products , information, technologies, jobs and the list goes on. Sugar and bananas are actually Jamaica’s integral cash crop and unfortunately, the challenges Jamaica Face is lack of productions and productivity. With the struggle of lack of globalization, how can a country operate ? Most importantly, How can Jamaica’s agriculture operate ?
