Instruction
The purpose of this assignment is to draft and submit a complete, organized, detailed outline of your research paper in APA format, with sources cited and referenced accurately.
For this assignment, review the text to discover more about the seven perspectives of psychology (neuroscience, evolutionary, behavior genetics, psychodynamic, behavioral, cognitive, and social-cultural). This signature assignment involves two parts, for the first part you will compare and contrast these major perspectives covered in your text.
For the second part you will choose one of these perspectives to analyze a social issue.
This is based on YOUR interpretation of the academic material.
Part One
• Identify the distinguishing features including a description of controversies or debates associated with each of these perspectives.
• Identify conflicting viewpoints. (How do these perspectives differ from the others?)
• Identify shared viewpoints. (What are some common viewpoints in the perspectives?)Explain which perspective you most subscribe to at this time in your life and why. Be clear on which aspects from the perspective are most relevant to you.
• Discuss how this perspective explains your success as a college student and your future career success.
Part Two
• Choose one psychological perspective to analyze a social issue important to you (For example, teenage pregnancy, homelessness, drug addiction, public health, age and the life course, human trafficking.)
• Explain the social issue by stating it clearly, describing it comprehensively, and incorporating all relevant information necessary for your reader to understand it.
• In your analysis, describe how the perspective explains the social issue. (For example, how would the cognitive perspective explain homelessness?)
• Using the main ideas/tenets of the perspective suggest a policy to help with the social problem (For example, how would the behavioral perspective suggest helping with human trafficking?)
• Identify some weaknesses/limitations of the perspective to deal with this social issue. Offer suggestions for overcoming these weaknesses by incorporating tenets from another perspective.
• Provide evidence through the use of source(s) to explain how the perspective chosen explains the social issue. Use interpretation/evaluation to develop a comprehensive analysis of the perspective to address the social issue.
• Draw conclusions and related outcomes (consequences and implications) from your proposed policy that are logical and reflect an informed evaluation and ability to place evidence and perspective discussed in priority order. (What will happen as a result of applying the perspective to the social issue? Will using the perspective reduce the problems associated with the social issue? How? Look into the future and share how your policy, based on the tenets of the perspective, will improve the social issue.)
• Be specific with examples and connections you can make to life experiences.
• Use APA Style to format your paper and cite your sources, including your text. Include a title and reference page. Review the rubric for more information on how your assignment will be graded.
For part two I want to write about behavior issues in children.
