I want you to have the title, the authors, the journal it came from, and the date it was published so that anyone can see it And you don’t need slide number 3. Even if you write it up on the slides you want some of the images in there. There’s too many bullet points and too many text and less of the actual figures from the paper. You can actually summarize things a lot easier using some of the images from the paper. For example you can use adobe acrobat reader and take a snapshot of Figure 1 and Figure 2 by highlighting and copying the entire box and going to file copy then pasting it on the PowerPoint. You can get nice quality figure images which is very important because you want clear sharp images. Some of the things that you say the points that you make in the text I want you to draw it out using the figures that they do , especially these kind of figures like figure 1 and figure 2 I want you to present that.

In “figure 1: time to onset the psychosis among patients with prodromals ....” You should tell us in red we have the olanzapone the amount of patients in that group in blue we have the placebo and then the proportion without psychosis and as you can see with the olanzapine it stays constant throughout the 300-400 time period that they were analyzed during as compared to the placebo. I missed it in the slides but they say in the paper that there’s a difference between the two groups but that it’s not statistically significant. I want you to say that even though it shows a marked improvement it trends towards improvement increase in a proportion without psychosis but that difference was not significant between the two patient groups and then they say why. Why because they didn’t have enough power. Power in this case just means they didn’t have enough higher end, enough study participants.

You want to have the N= 31 and N=29 you want to point that out to everybody that even though the trend shows that it could be beneficial because it didn’t have enough study participants it didn’t have enough power to do the statistical tests to show that it was significant. That was one of the deficiencies in the paper. You can go to the rubric and make sure your following that. So you would do the same thing with figure 2 showing the same thing by talking about the b significant difference between groups p is less than 0.5 showing that there’s no significance. Table 3 you can talk about that but you don’t have to present the whole entire table but you can mention for example that there is a p value that is higher than .5 that means it’s not significant but that the trend etc...
