Scrapbook
The scrapbook is a way of you documenting Islamic culture through media sources.
Think of this as a journal of your reflections on Islam. You should choose a specific topic to document/explore in your scrapbook, such as:
• Islamic law
• The Qur’an
• Mosque architecture
• Islamic dress
• Sufism
• Pilgrimage
• Ramadan
• African-American Muslims
• Islamic art
• *Another topic approved by the professor for this course
Requirements: A minimum of 12 pages. You may include images from magazines, the internet, or other sources. Your scrapbook should include a summary that identifies your subject and what you learned from the scrapbooking exercise. This portion should be no longer than two pages double-spaced Times New Roman 12.
This part of the assignment is worth 25 points.
Infographic
Using software (I suggest using Adobe Spark or a tool available through Knight Lab), make a word cloud, timeline, or storyboard of your scrapbook. It should reflect themes, topics, and words that emerged from your scrapbook.
Use this space to share your infographic with your classmates. This part of the assignment is worth 5 points.
