CRIMINAL JUSTICE - CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE

The original posts are worth 10 points and the responses posts are worth 5 points. You will be graded based on content, clear evidence you have read the material, critical thinking, proper citations, grammar, and spelling. You will lose 5 points for each day an original post is late and 2 points a day for each day a response post is late. Original Posts: Each week, you will be required to submit two original discussion posts. One post is due on Wednesday and the second post due Sunday. The posts will be in response to a given set of questions that I will provide, based on your last name. You will need to write about 400 words (3-4 paragraphs) of text. In each post, you are required to cite the readings assigned that week, using APA in-text citations. (See https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/ for help with APA citations). You do NOT need to include a bibliography-style citation, only in-text citations. Each original post should end with a specific question for another student to answer. The question may ask another student’s opinion, but should NOT simply be, “What do you think?” A better question might be, “Given the textbook reading for this week and the data I just summarized, what is a specific policy you might support that would help victims of sexual crime feel more empowered?” Or “Why do you think treatment programs do little to reduce recidivism?” Response Posts: Every student should also post a response to the original posts. I will refer to these as “response posts.” Response posts will require at least one paragraph (100 words) of writing. They must include one in-text citation that references the weekly reading. They should demonstrate that you have read and thought about the assigned chapters and the original post. Your response posts should answer the question posed, correct any information the original post contained that you believe is incorrect, and should offer data supporting your opinion. You should make every effort to respond to a post that has no other reply. ALL RESPONSE POSTS ARE DUE THE SAME DAY AS THE ORIGINAL POST AT 11:59 PM. You will lose 2 points for each day a response post is late. Discussion posts should demonstrate that you have read each assigned chapter, thought about the material, and spent some time on the posts. They should contain no spelling or grammatical errors. When you are summarizing information from another source (i.e., anything that is not your own opinion), you should cite the information using APA citations. In other words, these are NOT completion grades. You need to submit posts appropriate for college-level thinking and writing. You will lose points if there are grammatical errors, a lack of proper citations, misunderstandings or misapplications of the material, or any other errors. Discussion posts make up a large portion of the final grade, and should be thought of as short papers. Rowan Ch. 1-3: Original and Reply Posts Due Wednesday, June 3 What does it mean to say that "child sexual abuse" is a social construct? Give examples that demonstrate this concept. If we are viewing child sexual abuse as a social construct, what kind of person will be viewed as sexually deviant? THE BOOK IS ATTACHED BELOW
