What is it, and why is it an appropriate theme for the First Day? 2) Relate these ideas back to the concern of civic society and the eventual reintegration of the storytellers in Florence. Step Three Now synthesize your responses to #1-4 into two paragraphs that distinguish between your first reactions to the opening sentence of the Decameron, and how you interpret the sentence in the context in which it appears.
