Instruction
1. First, briefly describe Duckworth's basic argument: What is grit, and why is it a better predictor of success than talent alone? Use the book to answer the rest of these questions: Why is a "preoccupation with talent" harmful? What is the goal hierarchy, and what does it have to do with grit? And finally, what are the four psychological assets that mature paragons of grit have in common?
2. Now, think about the studies done in the article. How do the studies support Duckworth's argument so far? Does it seem to you, from your own personal experience, that she is probably right? Or do you disagree with her? Explain.
