Study Plan/Chapter 3 DIP Outline (Research Design and Data Collection): Students will provide an outline (use Roman Numerals, bullets, etc.) with the headings below that is approximately 1-3 pages.
Headings (areas to address):
• Overview of Study: Identify the purpose and/or problem statement along with major areas of literature/research (theoretical framework) to support study (briefly summarize).
• Research Design: Identify proposed research question(s); type of study (e.g., case study).
• Intervention (if applicable): Planned intervention or aspect of focus for the study.
• Research Setting/Participants: Identify planned participants for the study, type of sampling, and sample/participant characteristics and why they are appropriate for study.
• Emerging Data Collection Methods: Describe potential data collection instruments, tools, and strategies (e.g., survey, assessment, interview, observation, artifact review, etc.).
• Emerging Data Analysis Methods (if developed at this point—not required for outline since this is addressed in later weeks of the course).
