Instruction
the reflection paper should include:
1. A detailed review of the newspaper article
2. Detailed explanation on how the topic from the article could be related to concepts learned in class: explain the concept(s) (use graphs) and explain how the concept(s) can be connected to the topic of the article ( topic : GDP: Measuring Total Production and Income)
3. Answer these questions
a)What does the article mean by working “off the books”?
b) What problems can be caused for a government or for businesses in a country if the government cannot accurately measure GDP?
c) Why would we expect firms in the informal sector to be so much smaller than firms in the formal sector?
For example, according to research by Rafael La Porta of Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and Andrei Shleifer of Harvard University, in developing countries, the average firm in the informal sector, or underground economy, employs 4 workers as opposed to 126 workers employed by the average firm in the formal sector.
4. Research the topic further by finding online at least 2 other news articles (or video clips from the news) that provide more information on the topic or explain the issue further and summarize those articles
5. Make conclusions about how the issue affects the overall economy based on your readings about the topic
6. List all your references at the end of the paper
