Research Paper Instructions
Topic: Corona Virus – COVID -19 in America
This research project will be on a topic that joins the greater conversation (a list is provided):
Research is required and need to be well works cited (MLA) (i.e. books, magazines, journals, newspapers). No general encyclopedias may be used, including Wikipedia. EBSCOhost must be used for at least four sources. All sources must have been published within the last five years. With at least one published in the last year.
Since this is an argument, you must choose a position on the topic and the research needs to support your position. Remember your purpose: to convince your readers that your position is the correct position (or at least, make them think twice about their own position). Remember, however, your audience and use the appropriate tone.
You will need to use a variety of quotes, paraphrases, and summaries to incorporate your research materials into your essay. Quotes are used when the author stated an idea so well that you cannot possibly improve or restate it as well or with the same impact. Your readers would rather read your words than a string of other people’s words; therefore, use quotes for impact and validity, but don’t use too many—or strung together so that you have not voice. Always use proper documentation for any material that is not your own.
Requirements:
Covid -19 in America ( mainly ) and compare with other countries ( briefly )
Statistics ( infected in America, Death, Hospitalize)
Government position ( financial help, president support or encourage )
Social distance ( work? Or not?)
The essay needs to be 9 pages in length, following MLA format. The works cited page does not count as the minimum 7th page. Do not use a cover sheet. You should have 5-6 sources from a variety of mediums (you must use the internet, but not exclusively, for research material). Three of your sources must be from EBSCO. All of your sources need to have been published within the past five years, with one source published in the last year. Please ask me if you have any questions.
