Locate at least two peer-reviewed scholarly articles that demonstrate how the biological theory explains etiology in two different mental illnesses. Answer the following questions about each different mental illness:
a) What are the specific biological mechanisms associated with each diagnosis?
b) How would each diagnosis be explained by a major psychological theory other than biological theory (e.g., cognitive-behavioral)?
c) Could each disorder be better understood by the combination of both biological theory and another perspective? If not, why not? If so, which other perspective is best? Why?

(a) Review the anxiety disorder cases (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) in Brown and Barlow (2017).
(b) Review the following videos:
“Bonnie: PTSD” http://visual.pearsoncmg.com/mypsychlababnormal/index.php?clipId=7
“Phillip: Generalized Anxiety Disorder” http://visual.pearsoncmg.com/mypsychlababnormal/index.php?clipId=3
(c) Discuss the diagnosis presented in one of the videos (Bonnie or Phillip). According to DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, explain whether the individual either meets or does not meet full criteria for the diagnosis in DSM-5, based on the symptoms reported in the video.
(d) Discuss the differential diagnosis. (i.e., several disorders may have overlapping symptoms. Which other diagnoses have similar symptoms, and why would they not be diagnosed in this particular case?)
