Instruction
the science of biomimicry has exploded into many areas of design. Biomimicry elements can be found in everything from surface finishes to trains to buildings and many others. For this week's assignment, you will need to identify a biomimicry topic (existing or future technology) that enables a building to be more sustainable.
A quick search online or even though YouTube can neet you an almost limitless list of interesting biomimicry technologies. As well, you can visit the Biomimicry Institue https://biomimicry.org/ (Links to an external site.) and search through the website for additional topics.
Please choose something that is interesting to you since this paper will feed into the larger final research paper at the end of the course.
Once you have identified the topic, you will need to write two pages (not including the cover and reference page(s)) that:
Identifies the biomimicry technology.
Provides a detailed discussion about how it works and its biomimetic properties.
How it will improve the sustainability of a building (commercial or residential). This part should be dynamic discussion given what you have learned so far in the course. In other words, you know a great deal about sustainability and green buildings, so how will this technology be an improvement over current practices and current green building standards.
Use 12pt Times New Roman single space format for the paper with one space between paragraphs.
section 1
Describes a green building and how it compares to less sustainable structures that are similar in size and function
section 2
Identifies electrical energy consuming appliances and devices used inside of the buildings and discusses energy saving measures of the building, describing how effective or ineffective they are.
section 3
Identifies water consuming appliances and devices used inside of the buildings and discusses water saving measures of the building, describing how effective or ineffective they are.
section 4
Describes building construction and finishing materials, and their level of sustainability compared to traditional building materials.
