his is your Creative Response Assignment # 1. You will have four Creative Response Assignments in the Modules total, but you only have to complete three by the due date. The three completed Creative Responses will make up your Creative Response Portfolio which is worth a total of 15% for the course. Within each Creative Response Assignment sheet, you will also have options; for example, here, for Creative Response Assignment # 1, you have two options. You only have to complete 1. All Creative Responses will be due on the same day towards the end of the semester. However, each Creative Response Assignment sheet will appear in the Module that covers the information you will be creatively responding to. That is, each assignment is related to particular material in your Modules and so it will appear in the Module with that particular material. I encourage you to work on them on the week that they are assigned instead of waiting till the end (when they are due). INSTRUCTIONS FOR CREATIVE RESPONSE # 1 CHOOSE ONLY 1 of the following prompts to complete. A link will be opened for you to submit this assignment in a separate Module titled “CREATIVE RESPONSES SUBMISSION MODULE.” Deadline: Friday, August 14 by 11:59 pm 1. Using The Broken Spears find 6 Nahuatl terms (usually appear in italics) and create an illustrated dictionary for those terms. You must include the Nahuatl word followed by a colon and then the definition of the term. You must also include a quote from the book that uses the term. Finally, you must provide a hand drawn visual representation of the term that YOU drew. Your own digital creation is also acceptable. You should not use pictures from the internet. To create the dictionary you can use Microsoft Word or Microsoft Publisher. You can also create this dictionary online using a webpage creator or a blog site. Wordpress comes to mind. If you are drawing your own images, you can take a picture of each image to then upload it to your Word or Publisher document or blog/website. 2. Using the University of Arizona codices website, pick two images from the different codices provided. That is, pick two of the little squared images. For each image write a 150 to 250 word poem inspired by it. Your poem should either describe the image you see or it should tell a story inspired by the image. Make sure you identify the codex and particular image you are writing about. If possible, include the codice in your document next to the poem that you write for it. There should be two images and two poems. Make sure you turn in this assignment as a Microsoft Word document, Microsoft Publisher, PDF.
