Choose ONE of the following questions to respond for MODULES 8-9: 1. What does successful reintegration mean to you? Substantiate your claim with examples. As “successful reintegration” is an ideologically-loaded concept, briefly discuss the ideologies and/or assumptions that underpin your point of view. 2. A common criticism of institutional / rehabilitative programming levelled at programs is that there is very little community involvement in corrections in the community. What would a community program look like if it spoke more directly to client sensibilities, as well as the needs of the community, for citizens who are able to viably manage their own affairs? What things might a program designer or manager consider when creating a new program? What kinds of questions should be asked or data should be collected to evaluate the effectiveness of programming? Choose ONE of the following questions to respond for MODULES 10-11: 1. Do you think the abolitionist vision has merit? If so, in what ways? If not, why not? Explain your answer. 2. Is the abolitionist vision compatible with prisons-as-an-institution as we now know them? Is it possible to innovate within the existing system enough to approach some version of abolitionism? Why or why not? Explain your answer.
