Instruction
Choose a topic that you have enough interest in to write about for each of your Essays in some form.
This can be a series or genre you love,
From a book series to TV series, movie series, or video game series
Or a genre like food shows about visiting restaurants, cooking challenges, or recipe shows.
A sport or important figure,
Whether it’s something well known like football or basketball, or even more niche sports like archery or curling.
Maybe there’s someone whose life has inspired your or mystified you.
Or even something more personal (though keep in mind that research and sources are always required for essays).
You could discuss your hobbies, your job, or your personal projects.
Are you writing a book or participating in a Dungeons & Dragons campaign? You can write about those too!
The characters, the theme, the plot, any of it!
Your D&D character, the world you play in, the campaign thus far!
With your topic chosen, consider how you would describe it to those with no knowledge of the subject.
You’ll be sharing your topic with the class in today’s Writing Prompt, and they’ll give you feedback and suggestions on how to progress.
Remember that trying to cover every detail is an insurmountable challenge for this kind of Essay.
Stay general, except in places of key importance.
If you are describing the Book Series, Harry Potter, then mentioning that the main character has two best friends named Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger is completely fine! Listing all the teachers and spells is too much.
Try to focus on just a few main points that give the best overall picture.
While not going into too much depth, a detail or two for each point to highlight that point is a good practice.
