Instruction
Each of us has a philosophy of education, or a set of fundamental beliefs regarding how we think schools should be run. What is your philosophy of education? Many school applications require that you write your philosophy of education. Therefore, you need to be able to state your beliefs succinctly. Your philosophy will be reflected in how you manage a classroom and what theories you put into practice. What does teaching mean to you?
Write a ONE-to-TWO page MAXIMUM** philosophy paper.
Consider these points when writing your philosophy. Avoid using I in every sentence. Leave out words such as “I believe.” It is obvious that these are your beliefs. It is your philosophy. Show, not simply tell, what you believe. For example, do not simply state that you will involve parents in your classroom. Show how you will do that. Will you send them newsletters each month? Will you invite them to be speakers? How will you actively engage students? Show the reader (interviewer) how you will teach? What will you do in your classroom so that everyone is involved and active? What will you do to make your class exciting and engaging?
REMEMBER:
Avoid over using "I" in every sentence; it is obvious that these are your beliefs.
12 pt. font, Times New Roman 1-2 pages (max) double spaced
Be sure to check spelling, grammar, and punctuation and 7th edition APA style formatting.
You will notice that grammar and APA- style formatting are both parts of the grading rubric.
