THIS ASSIGNMENT IS DUE IN 7 HOURS. Subject: Social Dimension of Science. This homework having to do with chapters 1-3 in his book. Your task is to “distil out” from his descriptions and discussions why he believes that science is “unnatural” and what he means with this. Then you are invited to reflect on whether you agree with him. Basically, read the first three chapters of the attached pdf book (The Unnatural Nature of Science by Wolpert) and answer all questions listed under instruction. NO PLAGIARISM. Keep answers short and clear, not very long paragraphs or answers.

HOMEWORK Soc 301 Wolpert ch 1-3 Answer the questions a,b,c in brief LIST form - that is, for each question make a list of at least 5 points. This requires checking the readings closely for W’s various points (he has many!), but this way you will read the chapters in the right way… Then (for d) I want your REACTION to W’s claim that science is unnatural, i.e. goes against common sense. Is that really so? What do YOU think? Can you think of counterarguments? a) Why is science “unnatural” (according to W) (i.e. goes against common sense) b) Why is science different from technology (according to W) c) Why did science not develop in China (although technology did) d) Do YOU (now) think that science is “unnatural” or not?
