COVID-19 Informative essay ( 60% ): In your essay, you will inform the public how science is done. In this case, you will use your science literacy to explain how the virus has spread, how your state and community have been affected, and what the public can do to slow down the spread of the corona virus. The essay should be 3 – 5 pages in length. When writing your essay, you should include the following: Cover page: Include the title of the project, student names, date and course information ( 2 % ) Introduction: In a paragraph introduce the main idea and briefly describe what the essay is about. The introduction must clearly state what the readers are about to explore. Make sure that you don’t include your opinion. (10% ) Body: Here is where you provide details about the main idea. You will present solid facts, statistics, statements, and other supporting details. See more details below under Essay Body (36 %) Conclusion: Summarize the essay in a paragraph or two. Make sure to reiterate the thesis statement and include closing remarks. (10 %) Citation: Cite a minimum of 3 sources, MLA style. Sources could be CDC, World Health Organization (WHO), Cameron Public Health, and other reliable sources included in fig. 1 ( 2 % ) Since January 2020, the world has been in upheaval looking for ways to combat a new pandemic. The virus, known as COVID 19 has affected millions of people. The virus has transformed the social, political, economic and psychologically landscape.
In this era, 21st Century, as COVID-19 spreads around the world, many couldn’t believe that we were not ready to combat this pandemic, the situation is made worse by the lack of transparency, confusing instructions and misinformation. This pattern has continued throughout many months with some of the media failing to provide reliable information, often from unreliable sources, and without a regard for science. Your job, as a citizen who has been affected by the virus in one way or another and as a student of scientific literacy, is to document and fight the misinformation with facts to better deal with the situation.
