Module 7: Assignment 2 - Classroom Management Kit
During this course, the student will complete a kit that reflects what he/she has learned throughout the course which can be used as a quick reference in the classroom when trying new and innovative ways to work with students. The kit must include, but is not limited to, the following; see the Classroom Management Kit rubric Preview the documentfor further details:
A minimum of 25 different “win-win” strategies. These will be documented in both an index and a glossary. The student must also provide references for all included strategies. (Remember to use APA 7th ed. formatting.)
A glossary. For each of the Win-Win strategies, the glossary must contain: the title of the strategy, a description of the strategy, an explanation of its purpose, how to use the strategy (the sequential steps to implement it), criteria to evaluate the effectiveness of its use, cross-reference to the student position(s) and disruptive behavior(s) for which it is appropriate, and an example of how to use the strategy. Note that glossary entries must be arranged alphabetically by the strategy title.
An index. This must provide a summary listing of all strategies defined in the glossary and cross-referenced according to each disruptive behavior and student position.
Case Study Report. Due to the pandemic, no field experience is mandated for this semester. Instead, students are expected to thoroughly read the Student Observation Case Study (here is the link: CASE STUDYPreview the document). Based on the information found in this observation, generate a one to two page report (not counting the required cover and References pages). The report should document: (a) general information about the student highlighted in the case study, (b) the student’s behaviors to be targeted, (c) the type of reinforcement program recommended, (d) criteria for any suggested level system, (e) suggested use of group or other social activities, (f) preferred behavior and classroom management techniques, (g) suggested layout of areas or stations, and (h)any other unique aspect noted in the case study. As students respond to these topics, they must provide a rationale for their suggestions as well as evidence to support their ideas.
Sample materials. Computer-generated and duplicated materials related to classroom management (i.e., on-line journal articles addressing critical issues as they relate to students with disabilities and language and cultural differences, samples of award certificates to children, letters to parents, anecdotal record sheets, record keeping forms for student behavior, and posters/banners. A minimum of 10 of these types of sample materials are required.
The format of the Classroom Management Kit is at the discretion of the student who prepares it as long as the required components are all addressed and included in it.
Back in Module 4, students were required to submit the very beginning of this project . . . the Glossary including at least 12 strategies in order to receive instructor feedback. Student reflections on the progress they were making were requested in several other modules. Now in Module 7, the entire Classroom Management Kit is due.
