1) Author a blog article For this assignment, you are to do independent research in either Digital Reveal’s LGBT Collection or QZap’s Zine Archive (see links below). Both collections include a large number of digitized alternative press publications. After browsing the collections, choose at least one issue of two different publications to examine more carefully. Then, write a blog entry of no less than 500 words, not including citations or quoted material, discussing in a commentary the selections you have chosen. Your blog post should consider how your selections reveal a particular approach, style, community ethos, or politics. In writing your post, consider the following: What is the audience for the publications? What topics do they cover, and what meaningful information do they contribute? What do they reveal about their era, community, and/or purpose? Tips Give your Blog entry an original title. Don’t use a topic heading as a title. Your blog should be single-spaced. Keep your paragraphs short, and leave a space in between paragraphs. Check back to respond to replies, especially if they include questions from readers.
