Unit 10 Rhythm and Blues 1946-1954
On the opening page, what did Jerry Wexler do to make race records more politically correct? ( It became a more politically correct genre for the black musician )
How did social and economic issues help the blacks in the 1950's? Did music contribute to this cause?

Unit 11 Rock and Roll
Describe the 1950's teens ( teenagers), and what contributed to the growth of rock and roll.
What song became the first rock and roll hit and why?
Elvis Presley is considered the first rock and roll star and has been termed the "king" of rock and roll. Watch the 43 minute documentary "the unauthorized biography" ( in the Week 6 modules ) about Elvis and post/respond to each other. What stood out to you about Elvis? Are there any songs or even movies that have made an impact on you? What did you know about Elvis before, and what more do you know about him now? These are prompts that you can use in your discussion.
