Instruction
Students will use the residency skills demo and feedback form as a guide for expected skill development throughout residency. Professors will score student performance and provide feedback during the face-to-face residency portion. Students are expected to use this feedback for skills improvement for the following residency or practicum/internship experience.
Students are expected to upload a personal reflection on skills after the face-to-face week.
Benchmark for CNDV 5310: Foundational Level

Benchmark for CNDV 5394: Integrative Level with the use of theory and focused interventions
The Counseling Session Skills Demonstration (CSSD) is intended to bring awareness to students the array of tools available and the appropriate application for facilitating therapeutic relationship and change based on clients’ goals.
Instructors should remind students that these microskills are developmental. Students should recognize that microskill practice on the foundational level leads to a personal counseling approach on the integrative level. However, the crux of counseling is the multicultural competencies that align with case conceptualization as a counselor mindset, based on self-awareness, client worldview, counseling relationship, and counseling and advocacy interventions.

1. The CSSD should be completed by the student and submitted with the video-tape segment to be reviewed. Instructors can set particular benchmarks for each skills demonstration for students as a group in a course or on growth-plan for each student in a course, such as:
Group: Demonstration of at least 8 microskills on the foundational level at a minimum score of 3 or higher = A
Or
Individual: Demonstration of additional minimum of 3 microskills on the foundational (or integrative) level at a minimum score of 3 orhigher = A (depending on the last level of student on the CSSD)
2. Each CSSD should include the ongoing examination of multicultural competencies as a framework for the open-ended items at the end of the measure.
