Instruction
he final paper is a research paper (November 16) based on a topic of your choice. The foundation of the paper should have been being built so that you should have turned in your MLA citation that included an article annotation for at least one scholarly article related to your research interests (November 10) and an electronic presentation of your research up to that point (November 13). Your research paper should demonstrate solid academic proficiency in academic writing, the ability to ethically integrate secondary sources into your body of work, and the knowledge of the subject matter so that you can present your position effectively. You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of academic integrity through articulating your own position in relation to other authors in a research paper. You should be able to demonstrate a proficiency in appropriately synthesizing, summarizing, paraphrasing, and quoting scholarly material. Typically, you should have between 5 to 10 credible "scholarly" sources cited. Typically, sources cited should have been works written within the last 5 years. You should be able to appropriately use in-text citations and MLA documentation practices in your writing. The typical research paper is a typewritten 5-7 pages (Times New Roman, 12-point font, 1-inch margins, double-spaced, MLA documentation style). The quality of the work is extremely important. However, again, you may choose your own topic so choose wisely.
