Assignment: Choose a conspiracy theory that you think may be causing problems in society. For example, you may think that the anti-climate change theory may be leading to the ruin of the planet. Or, you may think that the anti-vaccination conspiracy theory may be leading to an increase in illnesses. Or, you may think that the Holocaust denial theories may lead to racism. These are only examples. I am attaching a Wikipedia article that lists all the major conspiracy theories. Look it over and find one that interests you.
Research the USCUPSTATE LIBRARY for Six academic articles that discuss that conspiracy theory and its ramifications. Do NOT use the Internet for this assignment. Everything in library can be found on line. Using this sources, prepare an annotated bibliography.
An annotated bibliography begins with an introduction (naturally) that gives a summary of the opinions you have found in your articles. It does not need a thesis--this is not an argument.
Then, cite the different articles in MLA style, as you would in a Work Cited page.
The difference is, under each citation, you will have a 5-6 line summary of what the article is about. You should include the author's thesis, the arguments he gives, and his conclusion. Also include a statement of whether this article will help you or not
There should be a conclusion that includes your opinion of which is the best argument.
Remember, you are working toward a proposal paper, in which you will propose how to educate people about conspiracy theories, so that they can make more informed decisions on whether to believe them or not (a lot more about that in the next unit) So, aim for articles that will help you with that.
So, you will end up with an introduction, six 5-6 line paragraphs, and a conclusion.
