Sexual Education Infographic
As future family life educators, we might be required to teach others about topics in human sexuality. This content can come in several forms. As a childcare worker, it might be necessary for you to educate parents on typical sexual development in a preschooler. Marriage educators could inform couples of ways infertility might affect their relationship. Other topics family life educators could teach about include contraception methods, sexual assault, and gender identity issues.
One way educators can present these topics is through an infographic. An infographic is an artistic representation of data and information using different elements such as charts, graphs, pictures, and narratives. Here you can find several good examples of infographics: 100 Best Infographics.
Choose a concept from the course that was presented in chapters 4-16 or 18-20 of your text. These topics are wide ranging and can include but are not limited to, gender identity in preschoolers, teen pregnancy, impact of media on adolescent sexuality, STI's in older adults, and sexual assault on college campuses. Once you choose your topic you will then create an infographic on that topic that illustrates information about the topic including but not limited to, statistics, relevant facts, and suggestions for individuals, parents, or couples.
You may use your text as the primary resource for the infographic, but you will need to include two other sources as well. All sources MUST BE CITED (including your text) in APA format after the infographic.
This infographic should communicate researched academic information to individuals, parents, or couples in an easy to read and engaging way. You may choose the platform you use to create your infographic. There are many free options available, though for most you have to register an account. Options include Infogr.am, Easel.ly, Piktochart, or Visme.
Please see the syllabus for due date and point value. Here is the rubric that I will be using the grade the inforgraphic. If you have any questions about your topic idea or infographics please contact the instructor.
After this slide I have included a video explaining what an infographic is. I encourage you to watch this video to get assistance in how to create a good infographic. Next I have also included three examples of infographics. The first example is one that the Illinois Department of Public Health created. The other two are examples of previous students' works who have received good grades.
