Discussion Topic 1: Case Study In Team Leadership- Can This Virtual Team Work? Case studies are excellent ways to help you integrate the knowledge you gain in the classroom readings. The analysis you conduct and share with your classmates can increase your ability to be a better leader. For this case, you will be asked to put yourself in the role of team leader and apply the team leadership model in analyzing and offering solutions to the team problems. For this Discussion topic you will read Case 12.1 Can This Virtual Team Work? and answer the three questions at the bottom of the case. Which of the eight characteristics (Table 12.1, p. 299) of team excellence are lacking in this team? Based on this analysis of team effectiveness, should Jim intervene at this time or should he just keep monitoring the team? If you think he should take action, at what level should he intervene (internal or external)? If internal, should his action be task or relational?
