Organizational Pattern: Your outline must include an introduction, main points, and conclusion. The suggested optional template is attached.
Assignment Description: This is your opportunity to convince us to support a non-profit organization of your choice. The goal is to provide information and motivate your classmates to support a non-profit organization that satisfies a local, national or global need connected to your major (field of study) or that arouses your passion
Steps to take in designing your final presentation:
1. Select a non-profit/NGO and complete preliminary research.
2. After completing research, develop each point with the supporting research evidence. Research will provide clarification of the mission, need for the organization, success of its programs and why we should consider donations.
3. Plan and be very familiar with your introduction and conclusion.
4. You should have at least 4 references. Limit - only one .com or website
5. Include at least one oral citation for each bibliographic entry on your reference list. Oral citations add credibility to you as speaker and substance to your presentation.
6. Below is a sample format for an oral citation.

As they think and talk together their roles merge.

Format for your Non-Profit Organization Presentation
I. Get the attention of and introduce yourself to the audience.
A. Get the attention of your audience by using something that makes the audience take notice.
1. Use storytelling,
2. humor,
3. a shocking statistic, or
4. a rhetorical question
B. This is part of your introduction.
1. establish your credibility,
2. state your purpose, and
3. let the audience know what to expect.
II. Convince your audience there's a need for your organization.
A. Establish the Need.
1. Illustrate to the audience that what's happening now is not sufficient; and
2. needs to change.
B. Use credible sources to provide evidence (statistics, expert testimony, examples) to support your needs statement.
C. Examine the consequences of keeping the status quo.
D. Relate the problem directly to the audience.
III. Introduce your organization.
A. Explain how this organization satisfies the need. Use credible source(s) to provide evidence (statistics, expert testimony, examples) to evidence how the organization is satisfying the need.
B. Introduce how your organization will address and solve the problem.
1. Mission statement; overall approach
2. Discuss the facts (credible reference).
3. Elaborate and give details to make sure the audience understands your non-profit’s work.
4. Clearly state what you want the audience to do or believe.
5. Summarize your information from time to time as you speak.
6. Use examples, testimonials, and statistics to prove the effectiveness of your non-profit.
7. Prepare for anticipated objections.
IV. Describe what the situation will look like if the audience does nothing
A. Visualize the Future.
1. The more realistic and detailed the vision you present, the more successful effect of the emotional and logical appeal.
2. Your ultimate goal is to motivate the audience to donate to or volunteer for your non-profit.
B. Three techniques to promote your vision are:
1. Positive method – Describe what the situation will look like if your ideas are adopted. Emphasize the positive aspects.
2. Negative method – Describe what the situation will look like if your ideas are rejected. Focus on the dangers and difficulties caused by not acting.
3. Contrast method – Develop the negative picture first, and then reveal what could happen if your ideas are accepted.
V. Leave your audience with specific actions to take to help your organization.
A. Present a desired course of action
B. Keep the solution simple

2. Volunteer
3. Take up the cause
C. Provide organization contact/contribution information
