What do you want to do with a degree in environmental sociology or as a career?
Research[1] your career choice. Discuss what the career entails, how to prepare for it, how long it will take to achieve, and what the graduate/professional school requirements are.
Your MISSION & VISION
The purpose for wanting that career choice.
What do you want to do 5 or 10 years from now?
GOALS & OBJECTIVES - List 2 short-term career goals and objectives and 2 long-term career goals and objectives. Each goal should be linked to an objective.
Short-term
Goals (broad ambitions – earn a master’s degree in sociology)
Objectives (more specific, measurable – e.g. Be admitted and attend one of the top 20 graduate programs in the field of environmental sociology within 2 years of earning my bachelor’s degree)

Take an inventory of yourself and state your STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES, OPPORTUNITIES AND THREATS (SWOTs):

Threats - what threatens my achieving this plan?
Make a chart with these 4 categories and list at least 3 or more items under each

To achieve your goals/objectives; what steps will need to be taken in achieving this plan?

Funds needed to achieve your plan.
Time needed to achieve your plan.
Emotional support needed to achieve your plan.
Devise a Timeline (must be a chart or graph) with milestones.
Include personal and professional achievements such as getting married or having children before a certain age.
Provide an Assessment and Evaluation Plan.

List all References Please follow American Sociological Association (ASA) style.
Criteria and Formatting Guidelines for Career Strategic Plan
Your final document must adhere to the following criteria and formatting guidelines:
Use the bold headings for each section of your plan.
You must address each of the sections and the points within them.
Your final document must include at least 2 research references.
Your CSP should be at a minimum 3 pages in length.
Formatting:
Do not use contractions (i.e., don’t, I’m, can’t, etc).
Do not use “text” language in professional papers (i.e., R U sho).
Shorten paragraphs into 6-8 sentences at the most (indent 5 spaces).
Cite all facts appropriately within the text and include a “References” page at the end of the document. Do not use direct quotes in this document; paraphrase.
Cover page includes: title, author’s name, date, and course title (Do not write the instructor’s name on the cover page).
One-inch margins on all sides (top, bottom, left and right).
Text of the body of the paper must be twelve (12) point Times New Roman font.
Pages should be numbered at the bottom (center or right). Page numbering should start on page 2. In other words, there should be no number on page one; rather the page numbering should start on page 2 with the number 2.
The heading of each section of the paper (i.e. CAREER CHOICE, MISSION, VISION, GOALS AND OBJECTIVES, etc.) must be written in 14-point Times New Roman font, bolded, all capital letters, and centered on the page. The start of that section should begin one double space below the heading.
The sections of your paper should be continuous with the exception of the “References” page. The references should start on their own page.
Subheadings must be 12-point Times New Roman font, underlined, left-justified, and used generously but appropriately.
Your final document must use American Sociological Association (ASA) style for parenthetical citations and references.
