1. Operations are activities typically defined by menu items or screens in a program. Actions are associated with the particular work environment. Actions can vary greatly depending on the environment, but they are always made up of a series of operations. A good task-oriented manual can use actions as examples of how operations can be combined. Think of a computer-related action you regularly complete and the operations associated with it. Explaining each operation clearly and thoroughly, write a set of instructions for how the user could accomplish this action. 2. Look back at your set of instructions from question one. One benefit of explaining operations in terms of actions is that it can actually help users learn those basic operations. Analyze your example and explain how putting these operations in the context of the action could help users learn them. 3. Look back at the Nine Techniques to Help You Create a User-Focused Manual or Help System. Which techniques have you employed in your set of instructions? Which of the nine do you think are most valuable to a user? Why?
