Instruction
Final Paper: For your final paper, you will do detailed analysis of Prince Zuko-The Avatar (from the television show) through the lens of the theorist Anna Freud. You will use your article summaries to help you understand your theorist at a deeper level and you will use concepts from their theories to describe your character. In this paper, you need to show critical thinking and analysis and show that you comprehend your theory at a deep level. Your final paper should be approximately 10-12 double-spaced pages and include the following: -Description of the character: Identify and describe the character – what are the general characteristics (e.g., age, family history, demographics, geographical location, time period) relevant to understanding the character? -Description of the theory: Describe the major points of the theory you chose. Your summary should go beyond what is listed in the textbook, demonstrating your knowledge of the theory based on your additional research. -Analysis: Describe your character within the context of the personality theory you chose. How would a theorist of that orientation describe the character’s behavior? How would they recommend working with the character? -Critique/limitations of the theory: Discuss limitations of theory in explaining the character’s behavior. -References: Include at least 3 articles/chapters by the theorist for your paper (you may use the articles from your article summaries). You may use your textbook as a reference, but it will not count toward your article total. -Formatting/grammar – make sure your paper follows APA formatting (e.g., for citations/references). Be sure to carefully proofread your paper. I strongly encourage you to Page 7 of 10 complete a draft of the paper and utilize the Writing Center for feedback on your draft.
