Explain in your own words the answers to each question. In your answers, do not include the questions of the exam. Number each answer. The exam must be typed, double-spaced, between 2,000 and 2,500 words. Make sure you include a word count.

Discuss why, according to James Traub, 42nd Street/Times Square slowly declined through the first eight decades of the 20th century.
