Answer each question using the question as the heading and put each reference under the answer it goes with.
1)Please explain how the Constitution provides for a system of separation of powers and checks and balances.
2)Describe how a bill becomes a law at the national level
3)Discuss the filibuster and how it works to protect minority rights. How is it being used today? Is it working as designed or not? Why?
4) Discuss the role of the president when setting American foreign policy. What checks does Congress have on the president in this role?
5)The United States is the only developed country in the world where its citizens cannot vote directly for their leader (in this case, the president). Instead, voters vote for president, and their votes are transformed into electors as part of the Electoral College. It takes 270 electorate votes of the 538 possible electoral votes to become president. Four times in American history the winner of the presidential election did not receive the majority of the popular vote: 1824, 1876, 1888, and 2000.
As it is near impossible to amend the Constitution, what else can be done to make the Electoral College more reflective of the popular vote?
6)Compare the powers of the Legislative Branch to the powers of the Executive Branch. Which has more power today and why?
7)Discuss the president's unilateral powers. Please cite examples.

9) What are the differences between being a member of the House of Representatives and being a member of the Senate?
